Reducing emissions of outbound deliveries by over 90%

Every day trucks leave Svenska Fönster’s factory in Edsbyn carrying windows to customers across Sweden. Today, those journeys look very different from just a few years ago. As part of the company’s work to decarbonise its operations, all outbound deliveries are now sent using DHL’s lower carbon Skicka Grönt transport option – a shift that has already reduced emissions from outbound transport by an impressive 90%.

Skicka Grönt works by allowing Svenska Fönster to purchase a share of DHL’s total capacity for carbon-reducing freight. Instead of the investment being tied to a single route, DHL uses these funds where they deliver the greatest impact, replacing fossil fuelled segments with routes powered by renewable fuels. The result is guaranteed and measurable improvements in Sweden’s transport network, both today and in the long term.

A win for the environment – and customers

For Svenska Fönster, where transport makes up a significant share of total emissions, the effect has been immediate – and noticed. Customers increasingly look for low-impact solutions, and some have even chosen Svenska Fönster partly because of this commitment to clean transport  One haulier embracing this shift is Alfta Frakt, which transports goods for Svenska Fönster. They have invested in electric trucks and now all transport from Svenska Fönster’s site in Edsbyn to DHL’s terminal in Gävle is fully electrified
