It all began in 1941

Our heritage began in Denmark in 1941, when visionary engineer and philanthropist Villum Kann Rasmussen founded the VKR Group with a simple but powerful ambition: to improve everyday life by bringing more daylight and fresh air into homes and buildings.

Combining technical innovation with an entrepreneurial mindset, he transformed the window industry and laid the foundation for a company built to last.

Today, his entrepreneurial spirit and long-term perspective continue to shape DOVISTA. We are part of the VKR Group and wholly owned by VKR Holding, a family- and foundation-owned company.

In 1965, Villum Kann Rasmussen formulated the Model Company Objective - a philosophy that continues to guide all companies in VKR Holding, including DOVISTA.

The ambition is simple: to build companies that are profitable, create products that benefit society, and treat customers, employees, suppliers and owners better than most. 

 

Still today. the Model Company Objective remains the foundation of our mindset and the way we do business. It reflects our belief that long-term success comes from combining commercial performance with responsible business practices and creating value for all our stakeholders.

What does DOVISTA mean?

Our name reflects both who we are and what we stand for.

 

'DO'

 

Our name begins with ‘DO’, derived from the Latin domus, meaning home - symbolising comfort, safety, and the spaces where everyday life unfolds.

It reminds us that our work is rooted in the places where people live, work, and gather.

 

 

'VISTA'

 

Paired with this is ‘VISTA’, also from Latin, meaning view or sight.

This reflects openness, perspectives, and the way our windows and doors connect people with the outside, creating brighter, healthier, and more inspiring environments.

 

'DOVISTA'

 

Together, ‘DOVISTA’ expresses our purpose:
