Circular business is good business

In partnership with a:gain, a Danish provider of circular building products, and VELUX, KRONE has produced the Viddø window. This lower carbon facade window system is made from discarded insulated glass units (IGUs) with minor non-performance related variations supplied by VELUX.

 A unique product

By using the design tool developed by a:gain, the Viddø facade system keeps these valuable materials in use by arranging We are renowned for our high-end products, and are continually looking to be among the best in the market, also when it comes to lower carbon products and solutions”. the different sizes of glass panes into unique designs. KRONE receives the IGUs and, thanks to the specialist skills and flexibility in KRONE’s production, can transform the glass into the distinctive Viddø facade, by producing the custom frames and assembling the window.

The IGUs are produced by VELUX Group factories but cannot be used in VELUX roof windows because of their minor variations. Previously, they would be downcycled into lower value products, such as bottles.
